Lexie Sport as seen on Be Your Own Boss

Lexie Sports wear – Designed by Women for Women

As seen on Episode 2 of BBC3‘s new series Be Your Own Boss, Lexie Sport is a sports wear brand designed by Women, for Women.

Innocent Smoothie co-founder, Richard Reed is on a mission to find the next generation of entrepreneurs and start-up superstars. In each episode he picks 3 finalists from the 500 hopefuls who pitched; through the course of the programme he decides which business he will invest more money in to.

Designer Lily Rice founded Lexie Sport after leaving her job as a designer for Umbro. She was successful in reaching the final 3 of episode 2 and was given £2800 by Richard to develop her ideas for Lexie Sport. After 6 weeks Lily had her final interview with Richard to discuss what she had done with the initial investment and to see if he would back her to the tune of £50,000. Although cheekily suggesting to Reed, ‘The answer is ‘Yes' Richard', he came back with a ‘half' Yes, giving Lily £25,000 to develop a collection with a promise of further investment if Lexie Sport gains a big order.

Lexie Sport‘s founder and designer, Lily Rice wanted to design a range women's sportswear that was the antithesis of ‘wear less go faster', providing clothing that looked stylish and fashionable whilst still performing. Rice graduated from Central Saint Martins in London with a First in Sportswear Design and went on to work in both the UK and abroad on women's sportswear collections gaining awards from her peers and the press.
