The BBC London 2012 Olympics DVD and Blu-ray Box Set

At the time of writing, it's a dreary, cold and rainy Monday morning, but I've just watched something that has made the hairs on the back of the my neck stand up and put a big smile my face. What has elicited this involuntary response? Well, I've just watched a preview of the BBC's advert for London 2012 Olympic Games DVD and Blu-ray Box Set due to be premièred during tonight's Coronation Street. The advert coincides with today's release of the 5 Disc box set and shows footage of the highs and lows of the Olympics, set to the BBC's Olympic theme music by Elbow. It is due to be shown across all commercial channels at 8.45pm tonight (Monday 29th October). BBC Worldwide, the commercial side of the BBC hopes to promote the organisations role in creating public feelings of “joy” during the Olympics. Paul Dempsey, Managing Director of BBC Worldwide said “We are thrilled to be publishing the DVD of the London 2012 Olympic Games which have enthralled the nation. As the official Olympic Broadcaster, the BBC has achieved record viewing figures for their coverage and we are delighted to be able to offer this DVD which captures sporting history in the making.”

The Box set features 9 hours of coverage, capturing the key moments of the Games, including a specially-edited version of the entire Opening Ceremony from Director Danny Boyle, over seven hours of sporting highlights and the full Closing Ceremony.
