A Symphony Of British Music – Music For The Closing Ceremony Of The London 2012 Olympic Games

The Music For The Closing Ceremony Of The London 2012 Olympic Games

The Closing Ceremony will be directed by Kim Gavin, who also master-minded Take That‘s Circus and Progress Tours. He has described the event as a “mashed-up symphony” and “celebrates the fact that music has been one of Britain's strongest cultural exports over the last 50 years”

In contrast to Danny Boyle'sIsles of Wonder‘ Opening Ceremony that celebrated British Heritage and Culture, the closing ceremony will focus more on London. Mr Gavin said it will showcase “British creativity in the arts” and take people on a musical journey from Elgar to Waterloo Sunset in 30 tracks.

Among the acts confirmed to be performing are George Michael, the Spice Girls, Tinie Tempah, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, The Who and Emeli Sande.

An album of the music from the closing ceremony is available entitled A Symphony Of British Music – Music For The Closing Ceremony Of The London 2012 Olympic Games. As with the Opening Ceremony the download album will be available immediately after the ceremony at iTunes, with the CD available to Pre-Order from Amazon with a release date of 20th August.
