The Play List from the Opening Ceremony

The music featured when David Beckham was speeding along The Thames in his speedboat with the Olympic Torch, is ‘I Heard Wonders‘ by David Holmes from his 2008 album, The Holy Picture.

From The Telegraph:

A leaked document of the playlist for the Olympics opening ceremony gives an insight into Danny Boyle’s music vision for the £27m extravaganza.

Olympic officials will not confirm that an 86-track playlist is the official soundtrack for the Olympic opening ceremony on July 27 but it appears to be a good indication of what to expect.

Boyle will be assisted in compiling the variety of songs, which include theme tunes to soaps as well as music from Disney films, into one soundtrack by DJ duo Underworld. The pair’s 1996 dance track, ‘Born Slippy’, was featured in Boyle’s cult film Trainspotting.
