The Volkswagen Polo commercial song

Gaining it's début during the 2012 final of Britain's Got Talent, the new advert for the Volkswagen Polo charts the relationship between a doting father and his daughter; right up to the point where he waves her off to University in a brand new bright red VW Polo. The advert has received a huge response with it's winning blend of emotive images and poignant music. So, if you're looking for the song featured in the ad, wipe away your tears, we're here to help!

Volkswagen UK have stated the music is ‘Whispers & Stories‘ by Sniffy Dog. The track is not released as yet….(update below) And if you read on it is unlikely to be released due to the similarity with an existing song by Beach House called ‘Take Care'.

Sniffy Dog is a company that designs music specifically for adverts, TV and film projects. You may recognise their work from a recent O2 advert, featuring a remake of the Pete Seeger hit ‘Little Boxes’.

Does controversy loom though? Several YouTube users have noted that the music featured in the VW ad bears a striking resemblance to Beach House, in particular the track Take Care from the album Teen Dreams. See what you think…

**UPDATE**

Beach House have made a statement on their Facebook page regarding the Sniffy Dog song and the similarity to their track ‘Take Care'. They write:

The ad agency actively tried to license “Take Care” from us for weeks, to which we politely declined. People's comments/anger should not be directed towards VW or us. It was the ad agency that made these moves. I hope this also clarifies to fans and non- fans just how “Take Care” and the VW ad song are related. We will release a proper statement weeks from now when we don't have more interesting things to do/ talk about.
