I am an 18x Zoom. I am a Coolpix S9300
Recently it seems impossible to flick through the TV channels without catching a glimpse of one of Nikon’s new adverts. You know the ones, with the song you can’t get out of your head (it’s Radical Face’s ‘Welcome Home’, in case you were wondering). The Nikon Coolpix S9300 has been featured a lot recently, with it's impressively phallic 18x Zoom lens.
The Nikon S9300 (part of the Coolpix range) is the perfect camera for the aspiring photographer who wants a good looking camera that is simple to use and features some great technology. An updated version of the S9100, it has many of the same features as its predecessor but wins out with an increase in resolution and the inclusion of GPS, to help make cataloging your photos even easier.
The main feature of the S9300 is the impressive 18x zoom, made even more impressive by the camera’s slight frame and neat design. Speaking of design, the S9300 is available in a variety of shades, including red, blue, black and silver – in case you hadn’t realised, the S stands for ‘style’.
Other features and benefits include a nifty three inch LCD screen to preview your photos on, a 16.1 megapixel sensor and a brilliant continuous shooting option. As well as everything we’ve already touched on, the Nikon S9300 features image stabilisation technology, which is a blessing for anybody who suffers at keeping their hands steady to get that all important distance shot.
The S9300 comes complete with eight shooting modes, which makes a nice change from the tens that are usually on offer with point and shoot cameras. The Effects option is bound to be a popular one, allowing you to take photographs with a nostalgic sepia filter, among others. As noted in numerous reviews, with the features available and the reasonable price tag, the S9300 represents a good value buy. Jessops are currently offering £30 off with the S9300 priced at £219.
